The Bund lies north of the old, walled city of Shanghai and remains one of the most spectacular and famous urban landmarks in China.

This collection of 19th century photographs includes early views of the Shanghai Club’s first building, the old Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank, the Old Custom House, the Davidson Sassoon & Sons Building, the Jardine Matheson & Co. Building, the Gibb, Livingston & Co. Building, the Dent Office Building, the Kelly and Walsh Building and other important establishments.
