Quarter plate tintype, tinted in pink and blue. Thermoplastic Union case with Cupid and a stag (Krainik 36). Fine condition.
This wonderful quarter plate tintype shows a white couple with a young black slave nursemaid holding their infant. The prosperous-looking white couple is oblivious to the defiant look on the face of the slave who tends to their baby. The white woman leans sharply toward her husband and away from her slave and the child she holds.
